To get a FOA Title you need to be a PRO-member of World Chess and fulfill certain requirements. If you are new, first visit our step-by-step guide on how to register and upgrade to Pro-member.
Once you reached a certain Online ELO rating and kept it for a certain number of games, you’ll get your FOA title automatically. For the requirements please scroll down this page.
Which games count toward title progression?
Lobby games and tournament games both affect your Online Elo. However, title progression — your path to AGM, AIM, AFM, or ACM — is tracked through tournament play only. This is intentional. A title on World Chess means you competed under structured, official conditions. To pursue a title you need to:
Be a PRO member with a connected FIDE ID
Play in rated tournaments on World Chess
Meet the performance requirements for your target title
All Tournaments are rated and will affect your Online ELO Rating. Tournaments are designed for rating elevation and FOA Titles achievements. Games count towards title progress even if a PRO subscription has not been purchased.
Once you reached a certain rating and kept it for a certain number of games, you become eligible for the FOA Title. To get it you must upgrade to PRO and Connect your FIDE id.
