Updated yesterday

If you’re new to World Chess, the trial is a great way to explore the platform risk-free before deciding to continue with a full subscription. To help new players explore the platform, World Chess offers a 7-day free trial for first-time subscribers. Below are answers to the most common questions about how the trial works and what to expect.

What is the World Chess free trial?

The free trial is a 7-day access period that allows new users to try World Chess subscription features before committing to a paid plan.

Who is eligible for the trial?

The trial is available to:

  • All new subscribers who have never had a World Chess subscription before

The trial is not available if:

  • You have previously had a subscription

  • You have already used a trial period

At this time, the trial is only offered once per user.

How long does the trial last?

The trial lasts for 7 days from the moment you activate it.

After the 7-day period:

  • Your subscription will continue as a paid plan (unless canceled before the trial ends)

Will my ELO Rating and Title progress remain the same after trial ends?

Yes! All your progress will be same whenever you decide to continue with PRO subscription or not.

Can I get another trial later?

No. Currently:

  • The trial is only offered once

  • If you’ve already used it or had a subscription before, it will not be available again

Can I cancel during the trial?

Yes. You can cancel at any time during the 7-day trial period. To do that click on your avatar and then on "Manage subscription".

If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged for the subscription

Can I get a FIDE ID during the trial?

No.
FIDE ID registration is not available during the trial period.

To apply for a FIDE ID:

  • You must wait until the trial period ends

  • Your subscription must become active (paid)

Why can’t I get a FIDE ID during the trial?

The FIDE ID is part of the full subscription benefits and is only available to active paid subscribers. The trial is designed for exploring the platform, but certain official services are unlocked only after the trial ends.

What happens after the trial ends?

Once the 7-day trial period is over:

  • Your subscription becomes fully active

  • You gain access to all features, including FIDE ID registration

Summary

  • Trial duration: 7 days

  • Eligibility: new users only

  • Trial availability: one-time only

  • FIDE ID: available after trial ends (with active subscription)
