When a PRO player gets or connects FIDE id on World Chess, player's profile automatically syncs with fide.com. While we can edit some of your personal info on fide.com, there are certain nuances. Please check the info below to see if World Chess is able to make edits to your profile. If not, no worries, just contact fide.com and inquire to edit your profile.
The general rules are:
Synchronization of any information occurs within 48 hours
Federation, gender, profile picture on fide.com can not be edited by World Chess
World Chess administration can not edit a player's fide.com profile if the player is licensed, which means already been accepted by Federation. To find out if you are accepted please check your fide.com profile for this notice. Absence of such notice marks a licensed player.
To get license, please follow the fide.com instructions. World Chess is unable to assist in this.
Now, let's take a look at a few more specifics.
If you connected* your fide.com profile to profile on World Chess we can edit the following info:
First and Last Names
Country
Date of birth
FOA Title
FOA Rating
Exceptions:
If a player already got OTB title, FOA Title will not sync
If a player does not have an ongoing active PRO subscription, edits can not be done
If a player originally has special characters in his first/last name in fide.com profile, a player is kindly asked to contact fide first to remove those special characters. Otherwise, the info will not sync.
Is there a reverse sync from fide.com to World Chess?
No, edits in fide.com profile will not automatically appear on World Chess. However, a player may request World Chess to edit profile in accordance with fide.com.
